Men – Eyebag Removal

Eyebag Removal, also called lower Blepharoplasty, corrects bags underneath the eyes by removing fatty tissue and tightening the muscle and skin. Blepharoplasty can also be performed on the upper eyelids to tighten drooping skin. Both procedures are regularly performed at the same time (Lower Eyelid Lift) and commonly combined with other facial procedures such as Facelifts and Foreheadlifts.

As men age, the skin begins to sag and droop, especially around the eyes, and this can give you a tired and aged look. Blepharoplasty can restore the youthful look to the eyes by removing unwanted fat excess muscle and skin from the underneath the eyes..

Eyebag Removal Surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthetic, with oral or I.V. sedation, and usually takes 1 to 2 hours to complete.

Mr Ferrando will discuss all aspects of the Lower Eyelid Lift procedure to you at your consultations.

The transconjunctival procedure, where the surgery is performed through the inside part of the eyelid so that no external visible scar is created but if excessive skin or muscle folds are found below the eye, an incision may also be made just below the lower lashes. Scarring is hardly visible.

After Surgery – Recovery

After the your surgery, there isn’t usually any significant discomfort. It is normal to find bruises and swelling in areas where incisions were made and you might experience a sensation of dry eyes. Mr Ferrando will prescribe you pain relief medication and eye-drops before you go home.

You should feel fine after 1-2 days after surgery, but patients are recommended to have at least one week off work to allow their body to rest and recover comfortably at home. Avoid using computer, watching t.v., reading and also wearing contact lenses Any strenuous exercise or activities should be avoided for at least 2 weeks after surgery.

It is very important to keep your head in an elevated position as it will aid the recovery process. Cold compresses may be applied to reduce the swelling and bruises. Stitches will need to be removed 5 to 7 days after surgery.
