What Can You Expect After Surgery?

Recovery is an important part of your facelift journey. While every patient heals at a different pace, understanding what to expect can make the experience much more reassuring.

Week 1

Swelling and bruising are at their greatest during the first few days. Most patients experience mild discomfort rather than severe pain, which is well controlled with prescribed medication.

Rest is essential, but gentle walking is encouraged to promote circulation.

Week 2

Bruising begins to fade significantly, and swelling gradually reduces.

Many patients start feeling much more comfortable and may return to light social activities, although some residual swelling remains.

Weeks 3–4

The face starts to look increasingly natural.

Most patients feel confident returning to work and social engagements. Makeup can usually be used to conceal any remaining bruising.

Weeks 6–8

Most swelling has resolved, and the improved facial contours become more apparent.

The scars continue to soften and fade.

Three to Six Months

Healing continues beneath the surface.

The final result becomes progressively more refined as tissues settle naturally.

Recovery is individual

No two patients recover in exactly the same way.

Careful follow-up appointments and adherence to your surgeon’s instructions are essential for achieving the best possible outcome. Dr Ferrando and his team remain available throughout your recovery to answer questions and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
